Impressive Converted Farmhouse, A/C, Private Pool, Amazing Views in a Rural Area - 3 km to Felanitx

Meandering along the scenic country roads just outside the market town of Felanitx, we found ourselves on a quiet rural track gently winding its way through the fields. Nestling on a rise in the land at the end of its own unmade driveway in a magnificent position we chanced upon this gem of a property! And what a discovery it is. Delightful, sleepy surroundings, spectacular views, peace and privacy are all assured in this quite stunning location which is at the same time within easy distance of all amenities including good restaurants and many lovely sandy beaches.

Extending across almost nine acres of private land the bucolic views from S’Olivar’s terraces and balconies take in Felanitx, Campos, the iconic hilltop monastery of Sant Salvador, distant Tramuntana Mountains and, on the clearest days even the sea and neighbouring Cabrera island. Taking a cooling dip in the good size private pool is the essence of relaxation; a long infinity edge to one side looks out over olive groves, pine woods and fields of carob, almond and citrus yet magically disappears at eye level as the soothing shades of water and horizon seamlessly merge into a vivid azure collage.

Bursting with Mallorcan character the interior bears all the hallmarks of an attentive, caring owner. And Juan is the man responsible. Selflessly dedicating almost 100% of his time to the project, over a period of two years Juan transformed this 200 year old farmhouse (formerly his family home) into the inviting, comfortably appointed and welcoming property it is today. Flowing easily over two floors, the generously proportioned accommodation is light, airy and calming, full of charm and captures attention through endearing character features that include vaulted beamed ceilings, terracotta tiles, oversized ‘Victorian-style’ shower heads as well as recycled antique hooks and door handles. You might say this is stylish country living… with a 21st Century twist.

Notable for its undulating, emblematic row of windmills, colourful ceramics and tasty ‘sobrasada de porc negra’ (spicy pork sausage), the market town of Felanitx where all amenities can be found is only a 10 minute drive as is cosmopolitan Cala d’Or in the other direction. Fascinating young and old alike, the tenebrous Caves of Drach and many unspoilt sandy beaches (including several of our favourites, Cala Sa Nau, Cala Mondragó, Cala Figuera and Cala Llombards) are all easily reached.

For golfers the highly rated Club Vall d’Or is a 15 minute drive and various local restaurants lie dotted around the countryside. The waterfront cafés of Porto Colom (12km) serve excellent seafood with the restaurant Sa Sinia reputedly being a favourite of the Spanish Royal Family. Palma, about a 40 minute drive, has so much to offer including a thriving harbour, circular Bellver castle, vast Gothic cathedral, chic tree-lined boulevards and, of course, a wealth of wonderful restaurants.

Sports & Activities

There are many hiking trails in the area and cyclists can enjoy countryside lanes, coastal routes and more hilly challenges. There is a yacht club in Porto Colom and here you can engage in sailing, diving and sea fishing. The golf course Vall d'Or has 18 holes and is situated on the road to Porto Colom.

Situated along the scenic country roads just outside (3 km) the market town of Felanitx, nestled on a rise in the land at the end of its own unmade driveway whilst still an easy distance of all amenities including good restaurants and many lovely sandy beaches. Felanitx enjoys a relaxed atmosphere where you can simply stroll around and enjoy the golden stone buildings and hidden squares and the Sunday market is definitely worth a visit. Once you have explored the town you could visit some of the surrounding vineyards as it is Mallorca's second wine-producing area, set in lovely countryside and close by you also have the Sanctuary Sant Salvador and Castle Santuari, both of which are perched on top of hills and have wonderful views of Mallorca and the sea. The authentic fishing port of Portocolom (12 km) is delightful with its Spanish flair, there´s some good restaurants and tapas bars by the waterfront or you can explore the beautiful pine forest hills and browse the quaint streets for pretty souvenirs. You´ll also find many activities here and it is the ideal starting point for a recreational boat trip along the coast.
