Contemporary Countryside Villa, Private Pool - 10mins drive from the Bastide Town of Castillonnès!

Amidst the gentle rolling countryside of the Lot et Garonne, close to Castillonnès (10mins), we came across this smart, contemporary property. A world away from the stone farmhouses usually seen in this corner of rural France, La Chênaie is clad in silvery grey Douglas pine from the region, creating a striking look which is both modern yet blends harmoniously with the surrounding landscape.

A wide terrace built of the same wood wraps around three sides of La Chênaie. Partially covered, it is the ideal spot for outdoor dining and relaxing whilst enjoying the views and the large natural garden. The pool sits in the dip just below the garden and terrace level, a quiet spot for sunbathing and swimming.

Occupying centre stage inside is the double height open plan living area. This luminous space is furnished with an eclectic mix of mid-century and contemporary pieces, with large French doors that open onto the covered terrace and frame the surrounding countryside. A separate kitchen is smart and modern, and has access onto the side dining terrace.

Radiating from the living area are the bedrooms. At the far end, the principal bedroom benefits from en suite facilities and access to the terrace. Two further bedrooms and a shower room complete the sleeping accommodation. All are individually furnished with colourful touches in the scatter cushions and the artwork adorning the walls.

The countryside surrounds La Chênaie yet amenities and restaurants are not far away. Castillonnès, a bastide town, is a 10 minute drive with the riverside town of Bergerac 30 minutes away. The area is renowned for its pretty villages, local markets, vineyards and a gentle pace of life.

Please note that there is a local tourist tax to pay: £1.50 per night for guests aged 18 and over.

Sports & Activities

Golf & Spa - The famous golf course of Château des Vigiers (20 km) now with 27 holes and 3 different configurations of 18-holes, each with different challenges and gradients. There are also spa facilities on site.
A Trip to Bergerac - Is a must, the old centre is a beautiful jumble of cobbled streets, timbered houses, little shops and cafes overlooking the squares.
Water Park - Aqua Park Junior Land, 10 minutes from Bergerac in the direction of Bordeaux. There are four pools, with a water slide and direct access to the river for canoeing. Mountain biking, quad bikes, beach volleyball and table tennis are always on offer. The park is open daily from May to September from 10:00 to 01:00 the following morning – floodlit at night!
Markets - The area is well known for its locally grown produce, head to Castillonnès on Tuesday, Bergerac on Wednesday or Saturday, Eymet or Monflanquin on Thursdays, Villeréal on Saturdays, Issigeac on Sundays.
