Area: Southern Kefalonia, Skala Bedrooms: 4 Sleeps: 8
Impressive Stone Villa, A/C, Private Infinity Pool, Panoramic Sea & Sunset Views - 4km from Skala!
Situated at the top of a short, steeply-sloped private road, surrounded by rolling hills sprinkled with firs, pines and olive trees, this impressive four-bedroom villa is spacious both inside and out. The airy, light and elegant interior simply never feels crowded while the private pool, bordered by a wide terrace and attractive shaded dining area, provides a gorgeous location in which to relax to the soft tinkle of goat bells or gentle rustle of the breeze in the treetops.
With two pointed roofs and granite walls, locally hewn and made in the traditional way, Hlazeika has a striking appearance. The pale rose coloured hue of the exterior is echoed in the exposed stonework of the living accommodation, creating a warm and welcoming glow that is particularly pretty at sunset.
Shimmering in the pure Greek light, the infinity edge of the pool imperceptibly merges with the distant horizon while the vibrant blue ocean tinged with white crests also appears to blend seamlessly into a vast and cloudless sky.
Modern and comfortable, the interior is appealing and easy on the eye. Classic furniture fringes a centrally positioned fireplace (ornamental) that designates the dining and seating areas. The kitchen is well appointed and each bedroom is tastefully decorated with traditional wrought iron beds, air conditioning, a private balcony or terrace and an en suite bath or shower room.
It is just a 4km drive down to the bright lights of Skala where all amenities including a large selection of supermarkets, tavernas, cafes and bars await. Wide, predominantly sandy and stretching for 3km, Skala’s Blue Flagged beach is considered one of the best on Kefalonia. It is also home to a water sports centre offering a range of activities for adult and child alike.
Nearby Katelios (7km) is a laid back coastal village popular for its choice of beachside seafood restaurants where the selection of charcoal-grilled lobster, fish and prawn dishes changes regularly according to what has been freshly caught. Boats can often be hired here for exploring the coastline in search of deserted coves or sailing around to the famous beach of Mounda where a conservation centre has been established for the endangered Caretta-Caretta turtles.
Continuing north, Lourdas Beach and Trapezaki Beach are both well worth a visit, as is the island’s lively capital Argostoli, a bustling town with a colourful waterfront, vibrant central square and several interesting historical landmarks.

Kefalonia is an island of dramatic mountains, thickly forested hillsides, pale golden beaches and a cobalt coloured sea. Covered by pine forest and carpeted with wild sage, oregano, thyme and rosemary, the entire island is surrounded by fantastic shorelines that sweep down from secret coves with white pebbles in the north to golden sands in the south. Hlazeika is situated at the top of a sloped private road 4 km from Skala. Once a small fishing village, Skala is now one of the most popular and largest villages in Kefalonia yet it still retains its inviting charm. Narrow, cobbled streets branch off from the main thoroughfare (pedestrianised in the summer months) to reveal the original fishing village, where cafes and tavernas sit alongside houses and fishing huts. The main attraction, Skala beach, which offers water sports and sun loungers is a mixture of fine shingle and sand and 3km long, ensuring quieter areas can still be found.
