Dorelia Villa - Chania

Good position to see the best of west Crete: Balos, Falasarna, Elafonisi, Chania. Tour for Granvousa+Balos and Samaria Gorge booked in Kissamos (15'). Nice Kolimbary 10'. Very confortable for 10 people and quit. The host has been always present and helpfull to suggest us everythink we need.

The villa is located in a quiet village, and it has beautiful views of the surrounding hills and sea. There is a smaller villa in front of (below) Dorelia, but it felt very private nonetheless. Our host, Eftichis, was welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. We appreciated the fruit and food basics when we arrived, and the well-equipped kitchen allowed us to prepare many meals during our stay. We rarely used the AC because there was usually a nice breeze through the house when the doors and windows were open (even being July/August!), but it was very efficient when we did use it.

The interior was perfectly clean with traditional Cretan decor and many beautiful, unique items and pieces of furniture (our favorite was the old Greek typewriter). The beds were all very comfortable, and every room was spacious. The shape of the living area makes it a bit tricky for a large group to all sit comfortably in one place or to watch the TV on the other end of the room, but because we were usually outside, this wasn't too problematic.

We spent most of our time in the beautifully landscaped, immaculate outdoor and pool areas. The large private pool is located up a flight of stairs behind the villa - our four kids loved it, and we all had plenty of space to swim and play. We also enjoyed the large shaded area and the numerous chairs that could be placed anywhere around the pool deck. For every meal we used the shaded outdoor dining area, and it felt perfectly pleasant even in mid-summer. Insects rarely bothered us, aside from the occasional bee joining us during our outside meals.

We had such an exceptionally refreshing, delightful time at the villa that I can only think of a few small suggestions... One is perhaps to provide beach towels to cut down on the amount of luggage needed by a large group or family. Also, a few of the rooms were quite dimly lit, especially at night, so perhaps some stronger light bulbs would help. Dorelia was formerly called Villas Sevi, and a search for reviews under that name will confirm that this is a spectacular holiday home! We had an absolutely DREAMY, unforgettable week there, and would highly recommend it! Thank you!!
