Naturally unspoiled, the south west corner of Corfu is home to gorgeous scenery as well as some of the island’s most attractive (and quietest) beaches. And there are very few houses in this beautiful area which can compete with the location of Helena, a recently refurbished, welcoming family home within walking distance of two informal local tavernas, the protected nature reserve of Lake Korision and just 150m from the long sandy dune-backed beach of Halikounas.
Simple and tasteful décor, air conditioning and a well-equipped kitchen create a most relaxing atmosphere. French doors in the living room look over the shaded front terrace to the pool and garden where attractive lawn provides ample space for play or relaxation.
Sitting on a juniper and cedar clad hillside, do visit the picturesque little market town of Agios Matheos (7km). Agios Georgios (6.5km) has a minimarket, cafes and local tavernas.
Please note: The nearest taverna (150m) normally opens in peak season only. Another taverna (300m) normally opens for most of the holiday season.

Sports & Activities
Lake Korission - Go for a walk around the lake, watch the windsurfers just off the huge expanse of golden sandy beach, and explore the nearby Gardiki castle.
Golf - The island's golf course is close to Ermones on the Ropa Valley (west of Corfu Town). This excellent course was created by the British during their time of occupation.
Snorkelling - Take a trip down south to Alonaki beach where the water is sublimely clear and protective rocks create a perfect bay ideal for snorkelling.
Sail to Paxos - A tiny unspoilt idyllic island, full of olive trees and oozing with charm. There are just three coastal villages with Gaios being the most well-known.

Famous for its fabulous beaches, traditional villages, ancient olive groves and Venetian-influenced capital, Corfu is the most popular of the Ionian Islands. Halikounas (also known as Chalikounas) Beach is known for its long, wide expanse of sand, stretching as far as the eye can see. Offering no facilities, and away from the tourist resorts, the beach can often be very quiet, perfect for those seeking relaxation. The shallow waters are particularly appealing to families with young children. With the west wind blowing in from the open sea, conditions are ideal for windsurfers and kite-surfers. At its southern end, Halikounas Beach meets Issos Beach, combining to form ten kilometres of pristine, golden sand. The sea is crystal clear and the beach shelves gently into the shallow waters.
