Luxurious villa with wonderful views and great facilities

Villa Akilina is a 3 bedroom villa which sleeps 6 persons and is almost identical to its sister Villa Dorise which stands next door (thus making both villas together suitable for large parties if required). It is surrounded by olive groves and is located on the edge of the village of Adele, 8kms east of Rethymno, the capital of the region. It is a beautiful small village built in an altitude of 70mts above sea level with a population of approximately 350 people. Strolling around the village through the narrow paved small streets you will come upon beautiful picturesque house yards, freshly whitewashed houses, historical churches and tasteful traditional coffee shops thus giving you an insight to Cretan tradition and hospitality. You will find most of your needs in the village i.e. supermarkets, bakery, butcher, souvenir shop etc.

The area below the village of Adele is known as ‘Adelianos Kampos’ which is the flatland area that lies between the village and the sea. The beach is a very long stretch of golden sand with crystal clear waters. Because of its length, this beach does not really seem to get crowded. Parts of the beach are organized and there are water sports as well as a scuba diving centre.

Rethymno is a ‘must’ visit s it combines the rarely united features of old town charm and history together with the proximity to a long sandy beach. It preserves much of its Venetian and Turkish appearance and has a provincial rather than a city feeling to it. The Venetian harbour is very atmospheric, especially for evening dining or even a just day time coffee stop. Behind the harbour and the fortress are many small, narrow streets with shops, bars and places to eat. The fortress dominates the city and with its pedestrian streets below strewn with charming old buildings it makes some very photogenic sights. Venetian influence abounds and the minarets and domed mosques are a reminder of the Turkish influence long gone. However, many of the cafes have an ultra modern design, and old and new combine to make a buzzing town.

With easy access to the national road this location makes an excellent starting point for exploring this beautiful part of Crete whether you are interested in sightseeing, archaeology, walking or simply relaxing and enjoying some of the wonderful beaches.
